John Dominic Crossan on courage and the lack thereof in the U.S. Senate

On the eve of the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, I had the opportunity to interview John Dominic Crossan, renown biblical scholar and best selling author of a number of books on the historical Jesus, the Apostle Paul, the birth of Christianity, and more. No one has had more impact on my understanding of scripture, Jesus and the history of Christianity than Crossan. We covered a number of topics in the interview which I will share later. With the hearings on Judge Barrett about to start, I thought I start off with this section in which Crossan offers his thoughts on what we see happening in the U.S. Senate.

  1. Living according to conscience, high principles, and taking responsibility for decisions and actions is exactly what we expect of our people when we vote and elect them into office. The system has become corrupted when there is no one who will stand up. We should send “I Dissent” collars to each of them!
